VEJEN TIL ASGÅRD REVIEW BY BURNING BLACK ZINE NOVEMBER 2005

This Ep is actually the latest release of Mr. Bjorn Jeppesen, and the musical approach showed this time is pretty different from “De Som Sejrede…” although still sounds pretty dark and atmospheric, this time seems to be much more inclined towards the Electronic music…

The Ep starts with “Urskovens Ansigt”, a gloomy piece of minimalist Black Ambient, with deep funeral ambiances, tenebrous keyboards and some ad-hoc incidental sounds. But the second track “Hvor Guderne Vogter” is an interesting piece of Electronic Ambient, which (once again) reminds me the sound Tangerine Dream… The next song “Gravhøjens Gand” continues into the electronic parameters, but sounding a little more like classic electronic… this song reminds me the sound of Jean Michel Jarre in his "Equinoxe” in some passages…

“I En Svunden Tid”, is a dramatic, and quite dismal piece of Dark Ambient (in the vein of “De Som Sejrede…”), with symphonic, soundtrack-like sound, it’s very majestic and much more introspective than the previous songs (that’s why this is my favourite track) The fifth song, “Norrøn”, starts like a luminous electronic piece, but slowly turns it sound into a darker mood; again we can find some visible late Burzum influences, with a strong Nordic feeling and majestic, tragic, quite depressive atmospheres.

The last song “Vejen Til Asgård” close this work, with an excellent mix of ambiances, those are very Nordic-sounding again but this time mixed with some electronic sequences at background and some spoken clean voices, adding a narcotic sensation to the whole song.

This Ep is stylistically more varied than “De Som Sejrede…” but Nattefrost seems to know how to maintain its own personal sound.
